Logistics cost calculator: what does preparing an order cost you?

Almost nobody knows what an order really costs them: packaging and shipping are added up and the hours and premises are forgotten. Fill this in with your numbers (calculated in your browser, nothing is sent) and compare it with a provider’s usual range. If you want the exact rate, the form below already carries your figures.

Calculator: frequently asked questions

How does the calculator work out the cost per order?

It adds four parts: labour (minutes per order ÷ 60 × cost of one hour), premises divided by the month’s orders, packaging and the cost of errors. Each order with an error or breakage counts as doing it again, with its shipping, packaging and labour, spread across all the month’s orders.

What does the calculator result leave out?

Shipping and storage. The shipping price is only used to value what it costs to redo an order with an error; it is not added to the cost per order, and storage is not included either. That makes it a like-for-like comparison with the provider range, which also leaves out storage and shipping.

Where does the 2.5 to 4 € per order range for a logistics provider come from?

From public rates in the Spanish market for a base order of one or two lines with standard preparation and packaging, excluding storage and shipping. It is indicative, for comparison only, and is not our rate: the saving uses the midpoint, 3.25 €, and we send you the exact rate in writing.
